Our soccer betting expert offers his tips and predictions for midweek MLS action.

There is a full schedule of games on the MLS schedule on Wednesday evening as the race for the playoffs becomes increasingly exciting.

Although Inter Miami and LA Galaxy dominate the East and West, respectively, everything is on the line for each team to improve their playoff seeding or simply make the postseason.

Vancouver relies on defense

LA Galaxy seem to dominate the Western Conference, but the remaining playoff spots are still up for grabs. LAFC is currently in second place with 48 points.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are in 6th place with 45 points, while the Houston Dynamo are in 7th place with 44 points. A win for either of these teams would be a huge advantage in the fight for a better playoff spot.

The last time the two teams met was in July and Houston won 4-3. Since then, however, Vancouver has massively improved its defensive game.

The Whitecaps have two wins and a draw since their loss to Houston and, more importantly, have not conceded a goal since then.

Houston is far from in bad form, with a 2-1-1 record since winning in July, but Vancouver’s defensive form makes the team a promising road win.

At +333, the odds for a clear win are tempting, but you should also hedge your bets with a Draw No Bet bet in case Dallas breaks through and gets on the scoresheet.

MLS Betting Tip 1: Draw, no bet, Vancouver Whitecaps @ +225 at bet365

The real Salt Lake crisis continues

Real Salt Lake may be fourth in the Western Conference, but their recent form has them on the brink of relegation. They have just one win in their last six games, and that was against a poor New England Revolution side.

Additionally, star striker and Golden Boot contender Cristian Arango will miss Wednesday night’s game against FC Dallas due to suspension. He was sidelined for a while recently with a thigh injury and Salt Lake has struggled without his goals.

FC Dallas, meanwhile, is trying to secure a playoff spot. They currently sit in 10th place and are five points off a wildcard spot.

However, with three wins, two draws and just one defeat in their last six games, they are in good form.

Real Salt Lake is struggling and is without its key striker Arango. Dallas is likely to pull off a surprise on the way to the playoffs.

Inter Miami Roadshow

There is no doubt that Inter Miami are the team to beat in MLS right now. They are ten points ahead in the Eastern Conference and have won their last five games in a row.

They have also shown impressive form away from home, winning four of their last five away games and holding an overall record of 9-2-2 when not playing at Chase Stadium.

Atlanta United are in fine form en route to a wildcard spot, playing 2-2-1 in their last five games, but they have struggled at home all season, managing just five wins, six losses and three draws so far at home.

Inter Miami will be without a number of players in midfield, with Sergio Busquets suspended and Matias Rojas continuing to struggle with injury problems, but Lionel Messi’s team still has more than enough firepower to sweep Atlanta off the pitch.

MLS betting tip 3: Inter Miami wins @ +137 at bet365
