Hillary Clinton says it is a ‘double standard’ to ask Harris about her policies

Hillary Clinton argued forcefully that Vice President Kamala Harris does not need to clarify her policy positions in interviews, saying the 2024 Democratic candidate faces a “double standard” from voters and the media.

“She doesn’t have to do it, Kara. I’ll get right to the point,” Clinton told journalist and podcast host Kara Swisher. in the podcast “On with Kara Swisher” this week.

“In fact, she has posted policy goals on her campaign website. Anyone who is really interested can go and read about it. She has mentioned policy goals. She actually has not just policy goals and concepts. She has plans for what she wants to do,” Clinton said, referring to a political page Harris added to her campaign website earlier this month.

“I think it’s, um, you know, it’s a double standard, and that double standard is partly because they’re still getting to know her. But also because they’re still grappling with the thought of, ‘Oh, am I really going to vote for a woman as president and commander in chief?'” she continued.

“This is especially true – let’s just say it and emphasize it – for white (voters),” Clinton continued.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Clinton’s office for comment.

As of Tuesday, Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, had at least 13 formal interviews since emerging as the Democratic nominee for president last month, while former President Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), had approved at least 54 mandates during the same period.

In the 59 days since President Biden dropped out of the race, Harris has yet to hold an official press conference.

In another interview with a left-wing moderator this week, Clinton further criticized the media’s coverage of the two candidates.

During an appearance on MSNBC, Clinton told host Rachel Maddow, “The press is still unable to cover Trump the way it should.”

“They’re racing from one outrage to the next… I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for the press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is. You know, the late, great journalist Harry Evans once said journalists should really try to achieve objectivity, and by that I mean they should report on the object. Well, the object in this case is Donald Trump. His demagoguery, his danger to our country and the world. And stick to it,” she continued.

Her comments came immediately after a second assassination attempt on the former president.

On Sunday, suspect Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was arrested after he was allegedly observed aiming a rifle through a chain-link fence near where Trump was golfing on Sunday at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Routh had previously repeated Biden and Harris’ anti-Trump comments on his social media pages that this year “democracy is on the ballot” and that Democrats “cannot lose.”

In July, Trump narrowly survived another assassination attempt after he was shot while hosting a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
