The 2024 Arizona State Fair is just around the corner and will hopefully be filled with cooler temperatures and plenty of rides, games, and great food to try.

The Arizona State Fair will be held Friday, September 20th through Sunday, October 27th at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix. In addition to the usual fairground fun, the Coliseum Concert Series returns with a dazzling lineup sure to delight fans of all generations.

With the trade fair so close, questions arise such as “What bag regulations apply?” and “What items are allowed and prohibited?”

Given the large amount of food and drink available for sale, it’s not surprising that no outside food or drink is allowed on the fairgrounds. Guests can expect to go through a metal detector upon entry, and security personnel will also check bags.

Here’s what you can and can’t bring to the Arizona State Fair.

What handbags, bags and backpacks are allowed at the Arizona State Fair?

Handbags, backpacks, fanny packs and diaper bags are allowed at the Arizona State Fair.

All bags are subject to inspection. Guests may also be required to pass through metal detectors, undergo a pat-down, or be scanned with a magnetic wand.

Clear bags are recommended for faster entry, but are not required.

Can you bring water bottles to the AZ State Fair?

Empty plastic water bottles can be brought to the Arizona State Fair. There are bottle filling stations everywhere.

Can you bring pepper spray to the Arizona State Fair?

Absolutely not. Pepper spray, batons and all types of weapons are prohibited.

What items are not allowed at the Arizona State Fair?

Drugs, alcoholic beverages, and selfie sticks are among the prohibited items at the Arizona State Fair. Here is the full list of items you are not allowed to bring onto the fairgrounds:

  • Food and drink from outside
  • Firearms
  • ammunition
  • Pepper spray
  • Club
  • Tasers or other types of electric shock devices
  • Knives with a blade longer than 2 inches
  • Sharp metal objects
  • Anything else that could be considered a weapon
  • Narcotics or illegal substances
  • marijuana
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Glass bottles
  • Laser pointer
  • Selfie sticks
  • Sharpies
  • Drones

Confiscated prohibited items will not be returned to the owner.
