Atlanta Dream vs New York Liberty: Odds, Tips and Predictions

Atlanta Dream vs New York Liberty: Odds, Tips and Predictions

The Atlanta Dream (14-25) and the New York Freedom (32-7) will meet in the regular season finale at Barclays Center on Thursday, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s check out BetMGM Sportsbook’s odds for the Dream vs. Liberty oddsand give our expert tips and predictions for the WNBA.

Season series: Liberty leads 3-0

The Dream have a one-game lead over the Chicago Sky and Washington Mystics for the 8th and final playoff spot before the finals. Atlanta has won two games in a row, coincidentally against the Sky and the Mystics.

When two teams are tied for the last spot, the head-to-head matchup decides. Atlanta is 2-2 against Chicago and, yes, 2-2 against Washington. The Mystics are 3-1 in four regular season games with the Sky.

With all three teams tied for the final spot, the deciding factor will be their record against teams with a winning percentage. As it stands, an Atlanta loss and wins by Chicago and Washington would knock the Dream out of the race.

An Atlanta loss, a Chicago loss, a Washington win, and a tie between the Dream and the Mystics will result in the Dream making the playoffs because of their better record against teams with a .500 or better record.

The Liberty have nothing to worry about as they have secured 1st place in the overall standings and will play against either the Dream, Mystics or Sky in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Tips and predictions for Dream at Liberty

forecast

Dream 79, Freedom 76

Money line

ATLANTICA (-105) is worth a try, as New York (-115) will likely rest key players since first place is already secured, and there is no time off to increase the risk of injury.

The Liberty have spared important players in the past, Breanna Stewart sat in the game before the Olympic break and made room for Kennedy Burke. Leonie Fiebich could also give the starting signal, because Betnijah Laney-Hamilton has been injured for most of the season and there is no point in putting any more pressure on him.

The Dream will give it their all and if they get a clear win, they would be right back in New York for Game 1 of a first-round series.

Against the spread

There’s no point in betting Atlanta +1.5 (-115) unless you’re absolutely convinced New York -1.5 (-105) will win by just a single point. If not, then betting on the moneyline makes much more sense.

HAPPEN.

Over/Under

UNDER 159.5 (-105) is a solid game in this final.

If Liberty gives key players a break, their offensive chemistry and performance could go way downhill.

The Liberty’s record in their last 6 games is currently 4-2, while they have been under-scored in 9 of their last 13 games.

For Dream, the under record is 3-1 in the last 4 games and 9-4-1 in the previous 14 meetings while the record in the previous 5 away games is 4-1.
