The Indiana Fever will face the Washington Mystics in their final game of the regular season. For the Mystics, this game is crucial to securing a playoff spot. On the other hand, the Fever will be looking to boost their confidence and make sure their key players stay fit for the playoffs, where they will face the third-place Connecticut Sun. However, the Fever received a wake-up call in the first half against the Mystics that showed them that they can’t let up just yet.

The Fever began the game with their usual starting lineup and, unlike some other teams, did not rest key players. The starting five included Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark. Mitchell’s playing time was limited, however, as she only played five minutes in the first quarter before being benched. Although she was spotted wearing a knee brace, Outsider WNBA reported her injury and tweeted, “Status report: Kelsey Mitchell (ankle) has to go to the locker room on Thursday.

The 28-year-old defender made an immediate impact, scoring four points in just five minutes, but her availability for the playoffs is now uncertain, which could be a deciding factor in the Fever’s playoff performance.

As the game progressed, the Fever trailed the Mystics 52-45 at the end of the second quarter.
