Wicket, wicket! Akash Deep upsets Bangladesh but misses hat-trick – Watch | Cricket News

After Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja got India out of jail by scoring 376 in their first innings on the second day of the opening Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, Akash Deep warmed up the guests with his bowling before lunch in the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
India’s bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah gave his team a perfect start by removing opening batsman Shadman Islam (2). This put Bangladesh under immediate pressure and Akash Deep took full advantage of the opportunity by bowling on the stumps and bagging rich returns.
After replacing his senior teammate, Akash bowled from the same end as Bumrah and struck a strikeout on the first delivery of his second over, rattling the stumps and sending Zakir Hasan (3) back to the hut.

The right-hander, who was playing only his second Test, struck again in the next delivery and cleared a miss from Mominul Haque with the first ball to secure a hat-trick.
Bangladesh’s score was a precarious 22-3 at this point, but the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim safely completed the hat-trick and prevented Akash from scoring.
Earlier in the day, Ashwin and Jadeja could only add five runs to their partnership as the latter was dismissed for 86 runs, but their stand of 199 runs put India in safe waters.
Ashwin retired shortly after on 113, while Akash contributed a useful 17 runs.
At lunch on Friday, Bangladesh were ahead 26-3.
