Syracuse Football without 3 players from the depth of the standings for the conference game on Friday night

Syracuse, NY – The Syracuse football team will be without three substitutes for Friday night’s game against Stanford.

Defensive lineman Dion Wilson Jr., wide receiver Emanuel Ross and running back Will Nixon are all not participating in warmups. They are standing on the sidelines in their jerseys and sweats.

Wilson played 88 snaps in two games on the D-Line for the Orange. He made five tackles.

Rashard Perry and Elijah Fuentes-Cundiff join Wilson in the rankings. The other tackle positions are Kevin Jobity Jr., Maraad Watson and Isaiah Hastings.

Ross was one of several freshmen who were inserted into the lineup starting in Week 1. He played 10 snaps against Ohio but did not play in the Orange’s win over Georgia Tech.

Fran Brown switched Ross’ commitment from Stanford to Syracuse shortly after he was hired as SU’s head coach.

Nixon is the backup to running back LeQuint Allen. He has played a total of 62 snaps on offense and special teams. Nixon, the son of Syracuse’s offensive coordinator, has carried the ball 12 times for 47 yards and caught three passes for 35 yards.

Nixon’s absence likely means more playing time for rookie Yasin Willis, who is also ranked.

SU brings back two players who missed the first two games of the season.

Wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons (thigh) and defensive back Greg Delaine (broken hand) are both in uniform and completing warm-up training before kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Delaine still wears a protective sleeve on his right hand.

Linebacker Marlowe Wax Jr. (lower right leg), defensive back Marcus Washington Jr. (biceps) and defensive lineman Braylen Ingraham (Achilles tendon) remain out due to long-term injuries.
