The interview took place on Late Night with Conan O’Brien In one of the last talk shows in 2002, Diddy, now 54, gave the host advice on how to throw a “killer party.”
“You’re legendary for the parties you throw. You throw an amazing party,” O’Brien, 61, told Diddy in the resurfaced clip, which was reposted across various social media channels on Friday, Sept. 20. “What’s the ingredient? What do you do to throw an amazing, mind-blowing party?”
Diddy then listed the elements he felt were necessary for a successful party.

“That’s what you gotta do. Women. Beautiful women, of course. Beautiful men for the ladies, of course,” the rapper said. “You need water. I don’t know if the guys have noticed, but a lot of ladies drink water at parties. So if you don’t have what they need, they’re going to leave. You gotta stay there. You need locks on the doors.”
O’Brien seemed surprised by the “locks” suggestion and replied, “That sounds kind of dangerous.”
The music mogul then described it as “a bit perverse,” but then dismissed the comment and went on to share his list of the “ingredients” he needs for his infamous parties.
“You need a lot of heat. You don’t need air conditioning. The heat affects the alcohol, but it also makes everyone feel a little more comfortable and relaxed… you work up a nice sweat,” he added.
O’Brien, for his part, responded by saying: “That just sounds disgusting.”
Concluding his tips for hosting a party, Diddy concluded: “You need good music and of course you need me.”

Diddy was arrested in New York on Monday, September 16. A 14-page indictment was released the following day, alleging that Diddy “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him.” The rapper has since pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit organized crime, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.
The indictment details “freak offs,” which were allegedly hotel room parties hosted by Diddy where women were forced to engage in “extended sexual acts with male sex workers.”
A New York judge denied Diddy bail on Tuesday, September 17, and he will remain in custody until his trial. He lost an appeal of the decision on Wednesday, September 18.
