Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich: Lineups, team news, is Manuel Neuer fit to play and more!

It’s back to league football and Bayern Munich are on a roll after two landslide victories in a row. A visit to Werder Bremen is usually a clean affair, but last year Thomas Tuchel blew it and actually lost to them for the first time in over a decade.

Vincent Kompany has the chance to save his team and keep the momentum going. However, he is also under pressure to rotate. Which way should we go, coach?

About the team

There is nothing new to report other than that Manuel Neuer is doubtful for the match after being substituted at half-time against Zagreb. Daniel Peretz, Josip Stanišić, Sacha Boey and Hiroki Ito remain out through injury, while rookie full-back Adam Aznou was not included in Bayern II’s squad this weekend – hinting at a possible place in the first-team squad.

So what lineup will Vincent Kompany field? Well, he didn’t hint at any rotation during his press conference and Bayern Munich don’t play again until next week – so we’re expecting a conservative starting XI. That means Harry Kane up front, supported by Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry in attack.

Aleksandar Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich will likely continue to play in midfield, while the defence will be slightly altered. Adam Aznou may debut at right-back, while Alphonso Davies will remain at left-back. Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae will retain their usual positions as centre-back, while Sven Ulreich will step in if Manuel Neuer is injured.

This is what the XI could look like:
