“Truckin’ and Jumpin” brings excitement to Wheeler Park on Sundays

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) – Wheeler Park was packed with food trucks, vendors and bounce houses Sunday as a test run for a new type of event in North Mankato.

The afternoon was organized by the Food Truck Stop, which has been bringing food to Wheeler Park since the beginning of summer.

This stop is a new fixture on the local calendar and only opened last June, making it the first event of its kind. Organizers said the community did its part to make this family-friendly summer afternoon.

“It was really busy. I’m really happy with the result and the turnout and I think the people who were selling, the vendors, the food trucks and the bouncy castles were also really happy with the turnout. We had people right from the start at 11 a.m.,” said organizer Martie Kaus.

Due to the success of this first attempt, a repeat is planned for September.

Organisers said the main aim was to give families something to do on a sunny Sunday afternoon and that this first day would serve as a blueprint for the future, taking into account feedback from parents and families who spent their day at the park.

“People have said that Sunday works really well. They’re looking for things to do on Sundays with their family and things like that. I think we’re going to stick with that. The 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. time seems to be a good time for people to get out and then still come home and do their stuff at home,” Kaus said.
