Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has drawn transfer interest from “multiple teams” following his trade prior to Week 3, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

“The Panthers have been contacted by certain teams, according to league sources, while other teams within their own organizations have considered trading Young,” Schefter wrote.

According to Schefter, the Panthers have “no intention of trading Young.”

Head coach Dave Canales announced Monday that the player with the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft will be benched after leading the Panthers to an 0-2 start to the season.

Andy Dalton will start on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders in place of Young, who completed 55.4 percent of his passes for 245 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in the first two games of the season.

It was an uninspiring start to Young’s sophomore season after struggling during his rookie season with Carolina, in which he went 2-14 for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

The Panthers hired Canales as head coach during the offseason because of his extensive experience helping quarterbacks restart their careers.

Despite his experience leading struggling playmakers like Baker Mayfield, Geno Smith and Russell Wilson to later success, Canales decided to start Dalton this weekend after watching Young’s Week 2 video, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

ESPN’s Dave Newton recently reported that a source with the Panthers believes the team will add Young back to the lineup “in time,” “maybe even this season.” Canales, meanwhile, said Wednesday that trading Young “isn’t really something we’re really considering.”

But according to Schefter, “league sources believe it’s only a matter of time before Carolina actually signs the second-year quarterback – most likely sometime in the offseason.”

At this point, Young would be entering his 24th season, with two years and a club option remaining on his rookie contract.

The Panthers gave up their 2024 first-round pick and the right to draft quarterback Caleb Williams from the Chicago Bears to select Young. Young’s trade value is certainly lower right now, but Carolina would likely still try to recoup as many future assets as possible if the team actually considers a trade.
