Colorado fans were so happy about the win against Baylor that they stormed the field – twice, much to the chagrin of Deion Sanders.

The Buffaloes’ 38-31 win over unranked Baylor in the Big 12 opener ended in chaos. Within minutes, Baylor appeared to be on the verge of scoring a touchdown to tie the game, Colorado appeared to force a fumble, the play was reviewed, Colorado fans stormed the field, the stadium announcer pleaded with them to leave the field, the referees ruled the play a fumble, and Colorado fans stormed the field again.

And that only happened after a Hail Mary that tied the game at the end of regular time.

The game ended with a first-and-goal play from the 2-yard line that left Baylor needing a touchdown to send the game into the second overtime. Baylor running back Dominic Richardson found enough space to make a touchdown likely, but unfortunately Travis Hunter was in the way.

The first-round NFL Draft prospect found the ball at the perfect moment and forced a fumble into the end zone.

Colorado recovered the ball, but the referees had to review the play to make sure Richardson had actually lost it before crossing the flat and scoring a touchdown. The review probably could have gone in the Buffaloes’ favor, but their fans decided they’d rather not wait.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please leave the field, the game is under review,” Colorado’s stadium announcer was heard saying.

It didn’t take long for the referees to keep the call on the field, opening the door for a full-court storm. Colorado was a 2.5-point favorite at BetMGM.

One person who didn’t like the way the game ended was Sanders. The Colorado head coach apologized to reporters for storming the field, which he said prevented him from shaking hands with Baylor head coach Dave Aranda.

“This is unprofessional. I wanted to shake his hand and express my appreciation,” Sanders said, according to Tyler King of the Denver Gazette.

With this win, Colorado’s record improves to 3-1, one win less than last year’s overall record. The Buffaloes will look to match that record next weekend on the road against UCF.
