India vs Bangladesh – Live Score: Rishabh Pant equals MS Dhoni’s record

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant reached a significant milestone on the third day of the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai on Saturday. Following his impressive performance in the second innings of India B’s Duleep Trophy opener, Pant continued his excellent form.

After a promising start in the first innings in which he scored 39 runs, Pant worked hard to score his sixth Test century, prompting cheers from the spectators and the Indian team. With this feat, Pant has equalled India’s legendary captain MS Dhoni’s record for most centuries scored by a designated wicketkeeper in Test cricket for India.

Dhoni, who played Test cricket from 2005 to 2014, also scored six centuries in his career. Wriddhiman Saha follows him with three Test hundreds in 54 innings.

Throughout his time at bat, Pant relied heavily on his aggressive strokeplay to score runs on the calm surface of the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Along with Shubman Gill, the Indian duo controlled the game at their own discretion and formed a crucial 167-run partnership that gave the hosts the foundation for a dominant position in the game.

Pant showed a mix of front-foot and back-foot play in his innings. Against spinners, he mainly used his back-foot technique, which gave him time to exploit the gaps and score runs effectively.
