Dairy company HP Hood has voluntarily recalled Lactaid, a lactose-free milk, in 27 states because the product may contain almonds, according to the company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The milk may contain traces of almonds not listed on the label, which may pose a risk to people with allergies or severe sensitivities if they consume the products. According to the FDA, these people are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

HP Hood on Friday recalled 96-ounce containers of Lactaid whole milk, 1 percent, 2 percent fat-free and 2 percent calcium-fortified milk shipped to retailers and wholesalers between Sept. 5 and 18.
