Both teams have made a good start to the season, winning two and drawing three of their five Premier League matches so far. Brighton have also reached the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup.

The hosts got off to a brilliant start, with Simon Adingra causing problems, but his low, powerful cross from the penalty area failed to find a teammate.

Forest went into this game on the back of a superb 1-0 win over Liverpool and Nuno’s team maintained their record of scoring the first goal in each of their league games this season.

Wood, who played on loan at Brighton in the 2010/11 season, calmly sent goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen into the wrong corner from the penalty spot.

Brighton warned Forest when Georginio Rutter turned and shot wide from 18 yards before Hinshelwood equalised with the Seagulls’ first shot on goal.

Shortly afterwards, Welbeck scored his third goal of the season with a magnificent free kick.

But Forest equalised midway through the second half and had one last chance to secure the three points after the three red cards were sent off.

Sosa had a clear path to goal in injury time, but instead of shooting, he shot too far at Hudson-Odoi and missed the chance – although he was somewhat spared the embarrassment when the flag went up for offside.

Nevertheless, the point was a fair conclusion to a very entertaining game for both sides.
