Houston Texans vs. Minnesota Vikings: Second quarter review and third quarter discussion

Houston Texans vs. Minnesota Vikings: Second quarter review and third quarter discussion

They head to the locker rooms for halftime (and Bobby Bryant’s Ring of Honor induction ceremony) at U.S. Bank Stadium, and the Minnesota Vikings remain ahead of the Houston Texans, 14-0.

The Texans punted the ball away on the first play of the quarter, and the Vikings then had their worst drive of the afternoon, with multiple penalties leading to a three-and-out. Houston penetrated Minnesota territory on the ensuing drive, but turned a 3rd-and-4 into a 3rd-and-19 by committing three consecutive false start penalties thanks to the crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium and punting the ball back to Minnesota.

Unfortunately, the Vikings’ offense stalled in the middle of the field and Minnesota punted the ball back. Houston took the ball to the halfway line and faced a 4th and 3 attempt at their own 47-yard line after the two-minute warning. Instead of attempting the attempt, DeMeco Ryans decided to punt the ball back to the Vikings.

The decision was correct, as the Vikings’ offense stalled after two Texans sacks and Minnesota punted back. The Texans were unable to move the ball after Ryan Wright’s punt and the teams went to the locker room with a two-point lead for the Vikings.

There hasn’t been much action on offense since the Vikings’ first two drives, but that’s a positive for us as the Violets go into halftime with a two-point lead and will get the ball early in the second half.

The Vikings led the Texans 14-0 at halftime in Minneapolis. Come in and experience the third quarter with us!
