NEW ORLEANS – The Eagles lost three players to injuries in the second quarter, including right tackle Lane Johnson and right guard Mekhi Becton on the right side of the offensive line.

And then star receiver DeVonta Smith apparently suffered a head injury when he was hit by two Saints players. He lay on the grass for several minutes before slowly getting up and walking to the medical tent. The Eagles were already without star WR AJ Brown, who is out with a hamstring injury.

The Eagles announced that Smith is being evaluated for a concussion.

Johnson was evaluated for a concussion and was out for the rest of the game. Becton suffered a finger injury, but it is unknown if he will be able to return. Additionally, wide receiver Britain Covey suffered a shoulder injury and was out for the game.

All of these injuries occurred in the second quarter.

Fred Johnson replaced Lane Johnson, a perennial Pro Bowl player, and Tyler Steen, who lost his starting spot to Becton in training camp, took over the right guard position.

Covey, who had an 11-yard catch earlier in the game, got more time at wide receiver as AJ Brown missed the second straight game with a hamstring injury.
