Old Dog Tavern Kalamazoo shocks city with announcement it is for sale

One of Kalamazoo’s premier businesses recently announced that it is having management and ownership issues and has now unfortunately officially announced that it is for sale. The Old Dog Tavern, which has been open for 14 years, very succinctly announced on their Facebook page that they will be selling their business by simply posting #FORSALE on their Facebook page.

Old Dog Tavern is a restaurant, bar and event venue founded in January 2010 by Sean Smith and located in the historic Star Paper Co. building. The Kalamazoo Paper Company was founded in 1867 but was damaged in a fire in 1872. Its paper mills were rebuilt in 1873 to produce book paper.

Many people were devastated when they got the news that they were selling, and it’s quite possible that this could be the end of Old Dog as many local residents know it. The tavern has had a massive impact on people’s lives, as one person wrote in a comment on their announcement:

Old Dog was the reason I chose Kalamazoo as a place for my husband and I to live. When we entered Kalamazoo we saw Old Dog and decided to go there. The place was amazing, so were the people. Before I knew it we were doing a round of “row row row your boat” at tables and then several people were doing a shot ski. After lunch I walked out and told my husband this was our place. Thanks to Old Dog Tavern, Kalamazoo is now my home. Thanks for the great memories

As soon as we have more information, we will keep everyone updated.
