Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert left the game on Sunday after suffering an apparent ankle injury. Herbert left the game in the third quarter after being sacked by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts.

Despite the score being 10-10 when Herbert left, the Steelers scored a field goal and a touchdown in the first two drives of the fourth quarter to secure the 20-10 victory. Pittsburgh is now 3-0 and off to a strong start to the season.

Roberts’ sack of Herbert appeared to heal an ankle sprain Herbert suffered last week against the Carolina Panthers. Herbert was initially listed as questionable before Sunday but was active before the game.

Herbert was taken to the medical tent for further evaluation. During the third quarter break, the Chargers announced that Herbert’s return was officially questionable.

Herbert was replaced by backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who didn’t really make any progress on the field for the Chargers.

Before his injury, Herbert had completed 12 of 18 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, and the Chargers were tied 10-10 with the Steelers.

Pittsburgh quarterback Justin Fields threw for 245 yards and scored two touchdowns – one rushing and one throwing. After scoring just one touchdown in the first two games, the Steelers’ offense found a little more of a groove, although Fields still had a difficult interception in the third quarter.
