Rob Gronkowski believes this rookie TE can surpass him as a pass catcher

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski admits he is a fan of Las Vegas Raiders rookie Brock Bowers.

Bowers has taken the NFL by storm since the beginning, recording 15 catches for 156 yards in his first two games in the league. The former University of Georgia star just played against the Baltimore Ravens, where he recorded nine catches for 98 yards.

He averaged 10.9 yards per reception and a 27-yard catch was his longest of the day.

Bowers was a dynamic playmaker for the Bulldogs and is now seeing those skills translate into the NFL. Gronkowski appeared on the “Up and Adams Show” and praised the rookie, transcribed by Jason Ounpraseuth of NESN.com.

“Brock Bowers, I was a huge fan of his when he was at Georgia,” Gronkowski said. “The guy is a winner. The guy is a playmaker whenever he gets the ball thrown to him. I love his explosiveness after the catch. I feel like he’s on his way to being better than me.”

“I don’t think he can dominate in the trenches like I can, but overall I think he can outperform me as a pass catcher in a lot of situations. I mean, he already has 15 catches, the most of any rookies ever in their first two games as a tight end. So kudos to Brock Bowers. I can’t wait to keep watching him.”

It will certainly be exciting to see the next wave of tight ends make their impact, and one has to wonder if Bowers will be able to continue the consistent performance and become a household name in a short amount of time.
