Waltham family must clean up after fire in their home – Boston News, Weather, Sports

WALTHAM, MASS. (WHDH) – A Waltham family is still trying to clean up after a fast-moving fire engulfed their home last month, injuring three firefighters.

The fire in Greenwood Lane saw heavy flames blaze from the side of the house and now the family is giving 7NEWS an exclusive look at the damage it has left behind.

Mark Lasoff said he and his son were home when the fire started. His son Oliver, who was asleep at the time, credits Mark for alerting him to the flames before they engulfed the back of the building.

He said he ran to get a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, but soon realized his top priority was to get his son out of the house before the flames spread.

“Another 30 seconds later it would have been coming at us and he wouldn’t have been able to get out,” he said. “If I hadn’t seen it on the cameras, it could have moved sideways. Anything could have happened.”

Three firefighters who were injured while fighting the fire were able to leave the hospital the same day.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
