A SHOP in The Broadway shopping center has closed its doors.

Womenswear store Select – described as “the premier destination for catwalk and high street looks as well as functional fashion items at amazingly affordable prices” – closed earlier this month, the mall confirmed.

It comes at a time of change on Broadway.

Last month, the downtown Burger King closed and this week a drive-thru opened elsewhere in town.

On Monday, customers queued to get into the branch at Eccleshill Retail Park on Harrogate Road – the first 1,000 people received a free burger.

However, there was good news when the opening date for Primark at the mall was announced earlier this week.

The fashion brand will close its store at the Kirkgate Centre at 5.30pm on September 9 and the new store will open on Broadway at 10am the following day.

A live DJ will celebrate the opening of the store, which will offer adult wear, children’s wear, and home and lifestyle ranges.

Broadway will “announce new fashion and beauty retailers in the coming weeks.”

A spokesperson for the centre said: “We can confirm that Select closed its doors at the beginning of August.

“We will be announcing new fashion and beauty retailers in the coming weeks.”
