Every year, Apple drops some iPhone models from its range as new models are added. But right now, the selection is larger than it was a month ago. The first two models that were still available a few weeks ago and are now no longer available are the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Aside from the new iPhone 16 series, these are the only two iPhones that support Apple Intelligence. You can still get one from other retailers (though you may have to hurry or choose a refurbished model from Amazon, for example), but it’s no longer available from Apple.
The third iPhone to be discontinued is the iPhone 13 – and that’s the main reason why the available range of iPhones has just grown.
The iPhone 13 came in two sizes, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. Both were launched in September 2021 and remained on sale in September 2022 when the iPhone 14 series was launched. A year later, in September 2023, the iPhone 13 was still on sale, but the iPhone 13 mini disappeared, perhaps because the mini series was less successful than originally planned.
That meant that the entire lineup last September consisted of the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, iPhone 14, 14 Plus and iPhone 13, as well as the long-running iPhone SE. That’s eight phones in total.
Although the iPhone 14 is the oldest phone in the lineup this time around, its similarly aged sibling, the iPhone 14 Plus, has not been dropped.
In other words, Apple will now sell you nine different iPhones. As always, iPhones from previous years are now cheaper. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus cost $799 and $899, respectively, until a few weeks ago. They’ve now each dropped $100 in price, to $699 and $799, respectively. Last year’s phones have now been reduced in price by a similar amount, so the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus now cost $599 and $699, respectively. The iPhone SE remains at the same price as when it launched in 2022: $429.
Apple tries to offer as much choice as possible without being overwhelming, and this year there’s more choice than last year.
