The Dallas Cowboys usually save their spontaneous explosion for the playoffs. In the regular season, Mike McCarthy’s team has almost always been the best in the world, winning at least 12 games in three consecutive years. When the smallest of things are at stake, the Cowboys can almost always be counted on to show up. They are the definition of top-ranked.

After a disheartening 28-25 loss to the Baltimore Ravens – where they trailed 28-3 at one point – the Cowboys look set to implode early by their standards.

This is also reflected in Dak Prescott’s attitude after Sunday’s defeat.

As he walked through the tunnel after the game, Prescott was recorded saying, “Jump off if you want.” That’s obviously a suggestion to Cowboys fans who (rightfully) don’t believe in the team after it got off to a troubling 1-2 start to jump off the Dallas train. And it’s a little odd to hear that from Prescott of all people, who as the new extended leader should probably be a little more self-reflective before taking out his anger on the non-believers of a team that’s showing that not showing faith is usually fair.

I have two things to say to Prescott after this: Don’t worry, whoever stays on the Cowboys train will definitely jump ship if Dallas continues to voluntarily step on the rake so early in the season. After all the playoff failures, you no longer gave the people who somehow still believe in you (?) any reason to believe in you.

And when you talk like that, it shows you’re focusing on the wrong things. Another real collapse of Dallas could be imminent.
