The Houston Astros enter Monday’s game with a chance to win the American League West Division title. All they need is one win.
Their opponent, the Seattle Mariners, will be looking to stay in the playoff race. They are six games behind the Astros at the top of the division with six games to go and just two games back of the third wild card spot.
Houston will rely on young right-hander Hunter Brown (11-8, 3.57 ERA) on Monday.
In his last start, Brown allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk and had three strikeouts in six innings.
The young right-hander has reached a turning point in his development this year.
In his last seven starts, Brown posted a 2.36 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 42 innings.
Monday will be Brown’s fourth start against the Mariners this year.
In his first three innings, he allowed a total of three earned runs on 13 hits and seven walks and had 19 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings.

Seattle will have its own young right-hander as a counterattack in Bryce Miller (11-8, 3.06 ERA).
In his last start, Miller allowed one earned run on two hits and four walks and had eight strikeouts in six innings.
While Brown has been great in his last seven starts, Miller has been even better.
During this time, Miller has posted a 1.77 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings.
Monday will be Miller’s third start against Houston this year.
In his last two games, he allowed a total of six earned runs on eleven hits and three walks and had nine strikeouts in twelve innings.
