Joplin Health Department Food Inspections

August 10 – The Joplin Globe publishes summaries of routine and follow-up inspections conducted by the Joplin Health Department. Businesses that are inspected pass or fail depending on what violations were found during the inspection. These violations fall into two categories:

—Priority violations are more serious and involve improper handling, storage and preparation of food. The Globe lists the number and summary of each violation.

—Core violations are less serious and involve equipment, maintenance and general cleanliness. The Globe only publishes the number of these violations.

A failed inspection may result in various corrections depending on the type of violations found. Complete copies of all reports are available from the Joplin Health Department.

Inspections on July 18:

DotNV Mobile Food Truck, 1710 S. Maiden Lane, passed with no violations.

The Ghetto Tacos food truck in Webb City passed despite two serious violations.

Inspections on July 19:

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, 3118 S. Range Line Road, received two major violations for storing chicken in a cooler above the allowable 41 degrees and storing chili well below the allowable 135 degrees, which were corrected upon inspection, as well as four core violations.

Checks on 22 July:

Longhorn Steakhouse, 1930 S. Range Line Road, passed with 10 core violations.

Union Station Deli, 705 S. Illinois Ave., received a priority violation for keeping temperatures below the allowable 41 degrees for storing cold foods, as well as three core violations. A re-inspection is scheduled for Aug. 1.

Braums, 2410 S. Range Line Road, got away with two priority violations for an employee storing beverages over retail food in the storage area and leaving a spray bottle of disinfectant on a prep table across from food; both violations were corrected during the inspection; plus 11 material violations.

Checks on 23 July:

Sonic Drive-In, 1030 E. Seventh St., gets through, with one major violation for storing degreaser bottles over food in the grill area and nine core violations.

Cash Saver Dairy and Produce Distributors, 811 W. Seventh St., is in violation with a priority violation for storing cold food above the allowable 41 degrees and five core violations. Re-inspection scheduled for Aug. 9.

Cash Saver’s meat department, 811 W. Seventh St., had three priority violations for storing employee beverages on a prep table in the meat cutting room, leaving a chemical spray bottle over condiment containers in the meat cutting room (both corrected during inspection), storing cold cuts above the allowable temperature of 105 degrees, and three core violations. A follow-up inspection is scheduled for Aug. 9.
