SEATTLE – For those who want cooler weather, our current seven-day forecast for Seattle will have you excited. Highs will stay above 70 degrees all week.

This afternoon, temperatures will be just above 20 degrees across most of Puget Sound and Seattle. Expect mostly cloudy skies with just a few sunny breaks.

The same weather pattern that is bringing us grayer, cooler conditions is driving the remaining haze from the wildfires back into Eastern Washington. There is a small risk of high-altitude smoke moving into the North Sound Monday afternoon and Tuesday, but today looks to be largely smoke-free. If smoke returns to the upper levels of the atmosphere tomorrow, I expect little to no impact on surface air quality. The situation is different in Eastern Washington, where smoke from regional wildfires is impacting air quality.

Unfortunately, the Methow Valley is under a wildfire warning today and tomorrow. Dry thunderstorms with gusty winds could fan fires and cause them to grow faster. Lightning could ignite new flames.

Temperatures will remain steady around 21 degrees all week! Skies will remain mostly cloudy until Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday may offer more sunshine in the afternoon (mornings will be grey). You can bet that skies will be more cloudy than sunny next Saturday.
