Amid a wave of significant layoffs at Dick Broadcasting, “Weather Dave” Aiken has resigned as co-host of the syndicated morning show “2 Guys Named Chris” and as APD/MD/afternoon host at classic rock “Rock 92” WKRR in Greensboro, NC.

Aiken has been with WKRR since 2003. Over the past two decades, he has also worked in creative services, advertising and event planning. Most recently, he served as co-founder and chairman of the Summertime Brews Festival from 2005 to 2019. Prior to joining the station, he served as a meteorologist for WFMY-TV Greensboro for 11 years from 1991 to 2002 and has worked as a freelance meteorologist for WXII-TV since 2015.

On today’s morning show, presenter Chris Kelly tearfully said: “Yesterday we had a very bad day here, a lot of good people lost their jobs yesterday. And one of them is Dave Aiken. Dave is OK, this is not a funeral, we didn’t know this was going to happen until yesterday so it’s been a really tough time for us. I really didn’t expect to get emotional about it but. He was such an important part of our team for twenty years so this is a really tough thing for us. He won’t be here anymore and we haven’t had a chance to tell him how much we appreciate him.”

We have confirmed that there are additional cuts at Dick’s in its service areas of Greensboro, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, New Bern, North Carolina and Savannah, Georgia, but none of the names have been publicly announced.
