Extend the summer with seasonal dishes and drinks

HONOLULU — Even though we may soon say “mahalo” to the long, carefree days of summer, restaurants still offer diners hearty dishes and drinks that beat the heat and humidity.

To celebrate National Filet Mignon Day, Black Angus Steakhouse is offering a limited-time filet mignon special from August 13-15, while International Market Place is celebrating Mixology Month through the end of August. Tanaka Ramen & Izakaya and Restaurant Suntory are offering their specials through the end of September.

Four locations at Ala Moana Center, Pearlridge Center, Town Center of Mililani and Kapolei Shopping Center

“Who says you can’t enjoy ramen in the summer? We’re excited to spice up summer with our new seasonal dishes and our Sapporo special to help guests cool off,” said Tina Wang, owner of Tanaka Ramen & Izakaya, in a press release. “Our summer menu is all about refreshing, bold flavors that are perfect for Hawaii’s hot, humid weather. We’re also excited to expand our popular fried rice dishes to our Ala Moana and Pearlridge locations so even more guests can enjoy these favorites.”

This popular eatery offers seasonal summer dishes—the summer special of Hiyashi and crispy Ebi cakes—as well as a summer special on $4 Sapporo draft beers at Ala Moana Center, Pearlridge Center and Town Center of Mililani locations through the end of September.

Customers can cool off with the summer special Hiyashi – spicy tsuyu broth and homemade shoyu pork chashu served with thick Japanese noodles garnished with chili oil, seasoned egg, spring onions and seasoned menma (bamboo shoots).

Due to popular demand, crispy ebi cakes are back. They are deep-fried shrimp cakes filled with mozzarella cheese and served with sweet chili sauce and wasabi mayonnaise.
