MW Remastered is the second best-selling game on Steam thanks to the MW2 mod

MW Remastered is the second best-selling game on Steam thanks to the MW2 mod

Released in 2016, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered has enjoyed massive popularity on Steam, rocketing to number two on the “top sellers” list, surpassed only by Counter-Strike 2 and easily passing Black Ops 6. This is all thanks to the H2M Mod, which is releasing this week and is a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer revival mod that uses MW Remastered as a base.

Bring me back

The H2M Mod is ambitious, porting the entire multiplayer platform from Modern Warfare 2 into Modern Warfare Remastered. This includes all maps, modes, weapons, and even some new content like maps based on single-player environments. It’s a free-to-play mod, but if you want to play it, you’ll need to own Modern Warfare Remastered on Steam – hence the resurrection.

Modern Warfare Remastered ranks second on Steam’s top sellers list – assuming you don’t count the Steam Deck as a game. In 2016, MWR reached an all-time high on the platform with just 1,409 users, and it’s widely believed that the game will surpass that record with the release of the H2M mod.

Activision released a remastered version of Modern Warfare 2’s (2009) campaign a few years ago, but removed the multiplayer feature from the game, disappointing players around the world. This revival-focused mod brings the game back to life in a glorious form, and the gameplay shown so far looks extremely authentic.

The H2M mod will be released on August 16th.
