Separate detour for trucks set up due to closure of Route 147 in Dauphin County: PennDOT

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Sunday that a separate truck detour has been established for the emergency closure of Route 147 between Routes 22/322 and 225 in Reed Township, Dauphin County.

Due to flood damage, the road was closed on Friday, according to a press release.

A truck restriction has been temporarily lifted on Route 225 (Peters Mountain Road), allowing both cars and trucks to use this road until a separate truck detour can be established. The truck detour is now in effect. The truck restriction on Route 225 has been reinstated. Cars can continue to use Route 225 as a detour.

Trucks traveling north take Route 22/322 west to Route 11/15 north to Shamokin Dam, then Route 61 south to Sunbury, and then Route 147 south.

Southbound truck traffic takes Route 209 north, Interstate 81 south, Route 322 west, and Route 147.

A utility project and associated daytime closure of Route 225 have been suspended while the road is used as a detour for cars, the news release said.

Repair work has already begun and could take approximately 30 days to complete. The contractor for this work is New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc.
