New HYLA filling station expands infrastructure for Nikola hydrogen trucks

Nikola Corporation, a provider of zero-emission transportation, energy and infrastructure solutions through the HYLA brand, continues to supply HYLA fueling solutions to support the volume increase for its Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks in Southern California, just off Interstate 5, one of the busiest truck routes in the United States.

Located at 13443 Freeway Drive in Santa Fe Springs, this new HYLA modular fueling station is located within Tom’s Truck Center, a key part of the Nikola sales and service dealer network, and has begun operations, supporting Nikola’s goal of offering 14 fueling solutions by year-end, representing a mix of HYLA and partner fueling locations for customers.

The company continues to open fueling stations and deploy equipment based on expected demand, with a particular goal of staying ahead of the rollout of hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks to ensure that end-fleet fueling solutions are ready and available.

“Nikola is committed to leading the hydrogen revolution by working with key industry partners to strengthen and expand our hydrogen supply chain,” said Ole Hoefelmann, President of Energy. “Our efforts to expand the HYLA fueling station infrastructure underscore our commitment to meet the increasing demand for hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks and advance the transition to zero-emission transportation. We thank the City of Santa Fe Springs, the Santa Fe Springs Fire Department and Tom’s Truck Center for their support in making this project a reality and advancing the HYLA hydrogen network.”

Complementing the infrastructure network is Nikola’s commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience, with dedicated HYLA ambassadors and operations engineers providing 24/7 support to ensure smooth and efficient refueling.

“We are excited to be the first in the U.S. to offer a hydrogen fueling station directly at our dealership to support the first wave of Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks now on the road,” added KC Heidler, President and CEO of Tom’s Truck Center. “Working with Nikola to make this possible also aligns perfectly with Tom’s Truck Center’s long-term commitment to zero-emission transportation.”

The HYLA fueling network is structured to provide a diverse portfolio of solutions for Nikola’s hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles and other Class 8 customers, including modular and permanent HYLA stations, behind-the-fence options, and partnerships such as with FirstElement Fuel in Oakland, California.

With the Santa Fe Springs station, Nikola completes a key hydrogen fueling triangle in Southern California. This strategic location, along with stations in Ontario and Long Beach, now forms a robust network spanning multiple counties and serving a population of over 12 million people.
