A car repair shop charged TikTok user India (@rosesarered0990) $300 for just two windows, so she decided to find out for herself. In a video, she tells viewers how she got her windows tinted for just $40.
“The first person told me $300. $300?! And that was just for two windows, the back two. … And I wanted all the windows, so how much were all the windows? $6(00)? So I put on my big girl pants and tinted our own windows. It’s not perfect. … But it’s not that bad,” India says.
The video has over 78 million views and more than 10,000 comments.

People in the comments section were excited to hear about this hack, but many were surprised by the citation India received.
“Girl, yes you DID it,” reads one comment.
“Looks good! … I’m on Facebook Marketplace and found a spot for $140,” another commenter chimed in.
“Oh hell no, I paid $165 for all 4 windows and the back window. The front is $100,” said another.
Some even offer India money to have their car windows tinted.
“Looking good. Girl, come and get the $50 I have for you,” read one comment.
“Girl, where are you? I’m going to hire you,” asked another.
India eventually released a second video explaining exactly how she did it all so others could understand.
In the video, India explains that you should go to the auto section at Walmart and pick up the rolls of tint you want. Then she recommends getting some microfiber pads to clean your windows with.
According to India, there is a tinting kit that comes with all the other materials needed. The tinting kit includes a blade, a scraper, a squeegee, and a tinting solution in a bottle that is filled with water. All of these items together cost $40, according to India.
