GALLATIN, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Gallatin woman was arrested after being charged with arson and vandalism in connection with the explosion of the duplex where she lived, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

The explosion occurred on June 14.

The TBI said its investigation found that 48-year-old Jessica Renee Stadelbauer, who lived in the home, was responsible for the explosion.

On July 8, the Sumner County grand jury indicted Stadelbauer, charging him with each count of aggravated arson and vandalism exceeding $250,000, as well as child abuse/neglect or endangerment, according to TBI.

Stadelbauer was arrested on July 24 and remanded to the Sumner County Jail on $100,000 bail.

“The charges and allegations mentioned in this press release are merely allegations of criminal conduct and are not evidence,” TBI said. “The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted in a due process of law.”

A woman suffered severe burns and was hospitalized after the explosion. She was taken to a local burn center and treated for her injuries. She was in critical but stable condition, officials said June 25.

According to the TBI, Stadelbauer was the only person in the house at the time of the explosion. She was the only one injured by the explosion.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation believed the explosion was intentional.
