Hall Township Food Pantry in Spring Valley distributes food on August 17 – Shaw Local

The Hall Township Food Pantry will distribute food to individuals and families in need at its location at 500 N. Terry St., Spring Valley on Saturday, August 17.

Back-to-school costs, unemployment and rising food prices have caused financial stress for many families. This project is just another way to help ease the stress of neighbors in need, according to the food bank.

The Davenport, Iowa, food bank is sending a semi-truck full of food purchased from the Hall Township Food Pantry to distribute to anyone in need. There are no residency or income restrictions for the mobile transport, but one person per household is allowed to shop.

Participants line up on First Street and are then led through the pantry barn where boxes are filled by volunteers. Make sure boxes are clean and empty so you can receive the offering. Distribution begins at 10 a.m. and ends at noon. Participants are asked to sign up for Feeding America statistics. Thanks to the pantry barn volunteers, the distribution process runs smoothly and quickly, the pantry barn said in a news release.

If anyone has an abundance of food (e.g. garden produce) or is willing to donate water bottles, please call Jan at the Pantry at 815-663-2085.
