CHICAGO (CBS) — Police are searching for a group of burglars who broke into three businesses in the West Loop last month.

According to police, a group of three to five burglars smashed the glass pane with a sledgehammer, forced their way in and stole cell phones, clothing and other goods.

A surveillance video released by the police shows the thieves ransacking one of the stores.

The three burglaries all occurred in the early morning hours of last month along Madison Street:

  • 1000 block of West Madison Street on July 13 at 4:41 a.m.
  • 1100 block of West Madison Street on July 13 at 4:45 a.m.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating two burglaries that occurred within a few hours of each other in Robers Park and Lincoln Park over the weekend.

Police said someone smashed the window of an ice cream shop in the 6600 block of North Clark Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and stole cash and merchandise from inside.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, three people smashed the window of an Ulta beauty salon near the corner of North and Sheffield Avenue, stole merchandise from inside the store and fled in a silver car.
