(CBS) — Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said her home was the target of a swatting attack twice.

Benson said Monday that the alleged attacks took place in the last 48 hours.

“I am grateful for the professional, coordinated response of local and federal law enforcement who quickly contained the threat and worked to keep us safe. Swatting is a form of political violence that is horrific and dangerous and designed to instill fear and terror in its victims. But hear me clearly: I will not be intimidated,” Benson wrote on X. “These threats have never and will never deter me from my job: ensuring that Michigan citizens have confidence in their safe, fair and accurate elections. I will continue to work with election professionals across Michigan to protect the vote of every citizen, no matter who they are, where they live or who they vote for.”

Michigan State Police said they had no information about the incidents at Benson’s home.

This came just days after Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin and former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers said their homes had also been targeted by swatting attacks. Slotkin’s team said MSP responded to Congresswoman’s house in Holly last Thursday after a false threat was sent via email to a local elected official.

The next day, a Rogers spokesman said Police responded to his home in Livingston County also because of a false threat.

“This is the second time Mike has been the target of a swatting attack. The first was in 2013 when he was a member of Congress. Reports that Rep. Slotkin was also targeted yesterday are a clear example of the deeply disturbing trend of political violence that has quickly become the norm,” Rogers’ spokesman said in a statement.

Slotkin and Rogers won their primaries on August 6 and are now in the race for Debbie Stabenow’s seat in the U.S. Senate.
