Eddie V’s Prime Seafood is applying for a permit to build a 10,000-square-foot restaurant building on the property at 151 Lakelands Drive, at the corner of Lakeland Drive and Great Seneca Highway in Gaithersburg.

According to a “statement of reasons” submitted to the City of Gaithersburg, “Lakelands, LLC was contacted by the operators of the Eddie V’s Prime Seafood dining establishment.” “Eddie V’s is a restaurant division within the Darden Restaurants portfolio, which includes comparable dining brands such as Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Olive Garden, etc. There are currently thirty Eddie V’s restaurants nationwide, with the closest being in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia.

When Eddie V’s recognized the unique location of the property in question with a) a large surrounding population, b) easy accessibility via adjacent transportation routes and c) a desirable dining environment with water views, the company immediately began planning how to bring its dining and entertainment specialties such as seafood, prime steaks, cocktails and musical entertainment (jazz) to this remarkable environment.

This final planning application seeks to enlarge the restaurant building to make the most of the views of Varuna Lake and to organise parking and transport on site to minimise disruption to the site and loss of existing vegetation.”

The plans are currently under review and a public hearing has not yet been scheduled.
