20. Back to the Bricks takes place on newly reconstructed bricks

For the 20th anniversary, “Back to the Bricks” will take place on the reconstructed bricks on Saginaw Street.

Flint City Mayor Sheldon Neeley says: “Everyone is excited about ‘Back to the Bricks’ and for the first time in 100 years, construction has finally been completed with the completely new bricks.”

The brick reconstruction project on Saginaw Street lasted 15 months and began in April of last year.

As for the old bricks, Mayor Neeley tells us that they sell memorabilia on the street that says, “Proud to be a Flint Brick.”

When the big main event takes place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, more than 3,500 cars are expected from near and far.

Mayor Neeley assures us that it is safe to come to downtown Flint and enjoy the fun.

“We have a multi-jurisdictional task force that consists of our own local police officers, university officials, our state police, our county sheriff and also other security teams that will make sure that people can enjoy this unhindered without there being any crime in the area.”

Since Back to the Bricks is all about celebrating your favorite classic car, the Mayor tells us that the ’57 Chevy has been a favorite of his since he was a kid and played with a Hot Wheels version!
