(The following is a transcript of the entire broadcast)

In Michigan Center, neighbors were already lined up at 8:30 a.m. for Our Lady of Fatima Parish’s annual flea market.

They came from near and far…

“So, guys, you’re from Ohio?”

“Yes.”

“And what brings you here?”

“The flea market – the BEST flea market!”

“All the way from Iowa…no doubt for this flea market?”

“Right.”

“Absolutely, absolutely. I heard it’s the biggest ever.”

Get in line to be among the first…

“Are you an avid bargain hunter?”

“No, but my mom is here. We’re just visiting from Ohio and I thought I’d come along and see if we could find some inexpensive things.”

What began as a church fundraiser almost two decades ago …

“This is where it all started – everything. And then we branched out,” says director Pam Roller.

…has developed into one of the largest summer flea markets in our neighborhood.

Roller has been in sales for 14 years.

It now fills the school’s gymnasium as well as six other rooms and the hallway.

Roller says clothing is a big attraction “because it’s very affordable.”

“I love garage sales and I look forward to flea markets too… kids grow fast…” says shopper Lacey Smith.

“The idea of the gentleman and his wife who started this was to make things as affordable as possible for the community. That’s why we kept our prices low. Significantly low,” says Roller.

Furniture, kitchen and table, books, toys, electronics, Christmas decorations – about two dozen volunteers worked all week to organize the donations.

What are the more unusual finds?

“We found two prints by Salvador Dali,” says Roller, “and had to reevaluate how much they would cost.”

These have been set aside and are waiting for that very special buyer.
