ANA takes off again from Vienna: three times a week nonstop to Tokyo | Vienna Airport

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline, is once again connecting Vienna with Tokyo-Haneda Airport from today, August 2, 2024. The airline uses a state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner three times a week for this connection all year round. In March 2020, ANA decided to cease flight operations on the Vienna-Tokyo route due to the corona pandemic. The airline has now returned to Vienna Airport. In the presence of Katsuhiro Suzuki, ANA General Manager Austria, Maria Petalidou, ANA Head of Joint Venture EMEA and Area Manager Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, and Belina Neumann, Head of Aviation Development at Flughafen Wien AG, the flight connection was officially opened today as part of a photo opportunity.

“Welcome back, ANA! The resumption of flight operations to Tokyo Haneda by Japan’s largest airline strengthens our position as an international hub. Tokyo is the fourth most popular destination in Asia for passengers flying from Vienna Airport. Tourism in Japan is booming and Vienna is a popular destination in Europe for Japanese passengers. In addition, travelers in Japan can look forward to a special highlight: Osaka will host the World Expo 2025 next year. We look forward to continuing our successful cooperation 35 years after the first ANA aircraft landed in Vienna,” said Julian Jäger, CEO of Vienna Airport.

“The Vienna-Tokyo Haneda route was opened on February 17, 2019 and has been very popular since the beginning. This is especially true for culturally interested guests from Japan. Vienna also plays an important role as a gateway to Eastern Europe and is, not least, an important destination for business travelers. The suspension of flight operations due to the coronavirus pandemic was very painful for us. We are all the more pleased that this important and popular route is once again part of our global network. We are convinced that this flight connection between our company and Vienna Airport has a promising future,” adds Katsuhiro Suzuki, General Manager of ANA in Vienna.
