New details emerge about abandoned dogs in Morrisville Park

MORRISVILLE, PA – Morrisville County Police have released new details about six dogs that were abandoned at a dog park over the weekend.

“Following the considerable attention and concern our previous post about the six abandoned dogs generated, Cpl. Halas has written a letter detailing the incident and stressing the importance of locating the original owner to help the other animals affected,” police said in a Facebook post on Monday.

Morrisville Police responded to a report of six abandoned puppies at the Morrisville Dog Park at 7:13 a.m. Saturday.

Police found six dogs weighing 22 to 27 kilograms running freely in the dog park.

Three of the dogs were adopted by neighbors and immediately taken home, while the Bucks County SPCA took the remaining three dogs to their shelter in Lahaska.

An anonymous letter was attached to a sign saying the owner rescued the dogs from someone who could not properly care for them. However, the rescuer could not keep the dogs due to apartment rules and felt the dog park at the corner of Philadelphia and Delmorr avenues was the best option, police said.

Police are investigating the incident and looking for the author of the letter. Police said they are also concerned for the safety of the original owner’s remaining animals.

“While the Morrisville Police Department does not condone the abandonment of animals, this case is a larger issue that we want to isolate and ensure all animals are safe,” police said.

Anyone wishing to adopt the remaining dogs should contact the Bucks County SPCA today at 215-794-7425.

Anyone with information on the original owner of these animals should contact Cpl. Halas at [email protected] or 215-295-8112. You can also submit a tip to Morrisville CrimeWatch.
