Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens, an NFL player for the Chicago Bears, placed an order and got two servings of chicken fried rice with vegetables and spicy garlic butter, plus extra noodles, according to the restaurant.

“Never misses,” Biles said of Stick Talk.

“We are so happy that Simone Biles chose Stick Talk for her first meal after making history at the Olympics. We definitely love and appreciate the support,” Jonathan Reitzell, co-owner of Alife Hospitality Group, said through a spokesperson. “We may have to name a dish after her.”

Stick Talk started as a food truck in September 2021 before moving to a storefront in late 2023. The menu is a mashup of Cajun and hibachi classics, from shrimp tempura with noodles to grilled beef with yum yum sauce.

On social media, people commented on how fitting the restaurant choice was for Biles, as in gymnastic jargon, athletes who don’t move their feet after landing a somersault “get stuck” when they land.

It’s a term Biles, who grew up in the spring, is very familiar with as she is the most successful American gymnast in history, with medals at the national and international levels.

Biles’ post about food may seem like any other social media post, but for an elite gymnast, it’s a change from recent history. Many coaches in the sport have famously withheld high-calorie foods from their athletes over the years, but as training methods have evolved, gymnasts’ diets have changed.

Just a few days ago, Biles posted on Threads that she “ate one too many chicken nuggets last night and could barely move.” Earlier at the Games, she and her teammates were seen eating pizza.

When her teammate Suni Lee, an all-around silver medalist and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, was asked what she wanted to eat after the Olympics, she said she was craving pho — another dish that there is no shortage of in Houston.
