TikTok star GFed loves Citizens Bank Park

TikTok creator GFed thinks Citizens Bank Park doesn’t get enough love. In June, the TikToker, who calls himself the “internet’s stadium tour guide,” decided to film a video at the ballpark. His video, in which he tries to hang out at the stadium an hour after the end of a Phillies game against the Cardinals, garnered 255,000 views and over 37,000 likes. The video was created in his typical “how long can I stay?” format and shows the Michigan-raised content creator lingering at the stadium after the Phillies lost in overtime.

“Why is everyone leaving a close game so early?” he asks in the video as it starts to rain and the spectators leave the stadium. “Why even buy a ticket?”

GFed, who started creating content in March 2023, has over 17 million likes and 435,000 followers on TikTok. He travels around the country, attending sporting events and going out of his way to avoid leaving the stadium after a game. In the CBP episode, he avoids getting kicked out by going in and out of private suites, taking empty elevators and walking past the Wall of Fame – stopping to admire old photos on the walls and professing his love for the Phanatic, his favorite mascot. “There’s no more lovable character to be the face of your franchise than a giant green blob.”

“I think a lot of people get curious when they watch games on TV and want to see a little bit more behind the scenes,” he told the Inquirer. “(They wonder) What do these stadiums look like? What makes one place different from another and why do some people like certain stadiums more than others? That’s the main message I want to convey.”

“I really like Citizens Bank Park,” said the TikToker, who was “blown away” by the ballpark’s amenities and eventually managed to exit his homemade obstacle course through the doors of the Pass and Stow restaurant. “I don’t think it gets the same love as Wrigley’s or Fenway’s of this world … but I felt like as far as ballparks with modern amenities and a newer feel, Citizens Bank was one of the most popular (venues) I’ve ever been to,” he said.

The Yard, a play area for children watching the game, and the bullpen, which is open to fans, were his favorite facilities at CBP. The Yard, with its Wiffle ball field, rock climbing wall, hot dog shooter and pitch speed tester, is, according to GFed, “(The Phillies) do this better than any other ballpark I’ve ever been to.”

Although he has visited “around 80% of the ballparks, stadiums and arenas,” GFed said he will wait to review them all until he has visited them all. However, his glowing review of Philadelphia could bode well when his review is officially released.

With the NFL season starting, GFed has already started planning his fall trips to NCAA and NFL arenas. He has no immediate plans to visit Philadelphia again, but would like to attend a Philadelphia Eagles game “to experience the true Philly attitude.”

“This was my first game in Philadelphia overall and I was really impressed with the atmosphere in the stadium,” he said. “I love this stadium, man.”
