Massachusetts is named the most livable place of 2024!

I have to say, dear Massachusetts friends and neighbors, this is quite an honor! According to a recent study by our good friends at WalletHub, the Commonwealth has been named the most livable state in 2024!

That’s right! As I said, quite an honor! The personal finance experts at WalletHub have just released their annual report on The most livable states in 2024 and this year the top spot goes to Massachusetts.

The WalletHub team obtained their data by comparing all 50 states on more than 50 key quality of life factors, including income growth, hospital systems, housing costs and homeownership rates, education rates, weekly work hours, and much, much more.

The bottom line is that Massachusetts did well on so many different measures that we came in at the top. Unfortunately, one of my favorite states came in at the very bottom. New Orleans was one of my stomping grounds for years (and I loved it!), but Louisiana came in at number 50.

The 20 most livable states in 2024 according to WalletHub’s study:

  1. Massachusetts
  2. Florida
  3. New Jersey
  4. Utah
  5. New Hampshire
  6. Idaho
  7. Pennsylvania
  8. Wisconsin
  9. new York
  10. Wyoming
  11. Virginia
  12. Iowa
  13. Minnesota
  14. Maine
  15. Montana
  16. Illinois
  17. North Dakota
  18. South Dakota
  19. Vermont
  20. Kansas

Pretty good results for most of New England, with New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont also appearing in the top 20. As a reminder, Connecticut was at number 22 and Rhode Island was at number 28.
