Last Denny’s restaurant in San Francisco closes

Last Denny’s restaurant in San Francisco closes

There is no longer a Denny’s in San Francisco after the chain’s last restaurant in the city closed its doors earlier this month.

The long-standing restaurant on Mission Street near Union Square poured its last cups of coffee and served its last orders of pancakes and “slam” menu items on August 1.

The closure of the San Francisco store comes after 25 years at that location, Denny’s officials told KTVU.

The company said it would not comment on the closure of its franchise locations.

However, franchise owner Chris Haque told SFGATE that crime, including food theft and street crime, was a driving force behind the decision to close the location.

“The cost of doing business is enormous. There is vandalism, people come, eat and leave, and there is no one to stop them,” Haque said.

He also criticized city leaders for not doing enough to make San Francisco a business-friendly environment.

In addition, Haque explained that the decline in the number of conventions held in the city in recent years has led to a decline in foot traffic in the area and a decline in businesses.

The closure followed another Denny’s closure earlier this year, namely the chain’s only location in Oakland.

The restaurant was located in the troubled area of Hegenberger Road, an area that has attracted a lot of attention because of its rampant crime.

Due to this situation, other businesses, including In-N-Out Burger, have also decided to cease operations along this corridor.

In response to the Oakland closure, Denny’s said, “Closing a restaurant is never an easy decision, nor is it taken lightly. However, the safety and well-being of Denny’s employees and valued guests is our top priority.”

Denny’s officials said 40 stores remain open throughout the Bay Area.
