Ocean State Job Lot opens first store in Central Maine

Ocean State Job Lot opens first store in Central Maine

In recent years we have all been faced with the fact that inflation is out of control.

This has led many of us to look for ways to reduce our spending.

One of our favorite methods is to look for bargains at our local discount stores. In Central Maine, we have several to choose from, including Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Marden’s, Renys, and the local Caswell’s Liquidation Center.

It looks like there will soon be a new discount store in Central Maine.

Ocean State Job Opening in Augusta, Maine

According to a press release from Regan Communications, Ocean State Job Lot will soon open its eighth location in Maine. The new store will occupy a 32,000-square-foot space at the Turnpike Mall in Augusta.

It will be housed in the premises that previously housed Christmas Tree Shops.

Other stores in this mall include Hobby Lobby, Harbor Freight and Texas Roadhouse.

Although no opening date has been set yet, the press release states that the new location is scheduled to open this fall.

What is Ocean State Job Lot?

As the name suggests, the retailer is based in Rhode Island and sells many items purchased at other stores at a discount.

Founded in 1977, Ocean State Job Lot currently has 153 stores in New England, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. The chain employs approximately 5,600 people.

As is often the case with many stores, you never know what you will find when you visit. You can find everything from clothing to toys and electronics to home appliances.

Most stores also carry a selection of seasonal items: beach chairs and umbrellas in spring and summer, school supplies in late summer, winter coats in fall and winter, and Christmas decorations.

When I lived in New Hampshire, I would plan frequent trips to the Ossipee location because the turnaround was so fast. You never knew what great deals you would find.

The retailer currently has locations in Maine in Biddeford, Falmouth, Rockland, Oxford, Belfast, Sanford and Bangor.
