DEEP EAST TEXAS (KTRE) – With the heat index expected to be above 40 degrees for the foreseeable future, heat advisories have been extended through Wednesday evening as not much is expected to change until tomorrow. I fully expect these heat advisories to be extended every day this week as the heat will remain relentless and will not be going away anytime soon.
The infamous heat dome will ensure mostly sunny, hot and dry temperatures all week as we bake under the hot August sun. Daytime highs will be above 35 degrees and heat index readings will reach highs of between 40 and 43 degrees each afternoon this week.
As soil moisture slowly dries out, it is possible that we will reach triple-digit temperatures for the first time this year towards the end of next weekend and beyond.
There is less than a 10% chance of a heavy shower moving with the sea breeze into our southernmost communities in and around Livingston, Woodville, Jasper and Kirbyville over the next few afternoons. However, most areas will remain hot and dry, with no signs of the heat abating any time soon.
