Specialty Coffee Association Japan event takes place in Tokyo

The Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) has announced the date of its annual B2B event, which will be held on October 9, 2024 at Tokyo Big Sight.

The 19thth The aim of the event is to bring together coffee producing regions and countries in Central and South America, Africa and Southeast Asia as well as coffee-related industries.

“Under the motto ‘Let’s enter a new decade at full speed,’ we are taking our next step into a brand new decade with SCAJ 2024,” says Katsuhiko Hasegawa, Chairman of the Exhibition and Conference Committee of the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan.

“Although there are many problems currently, such as currency exchange, global coffee market prices, labor shortages and climate change, with the introduction of artificial intelligence and the development of automation and digitalization, we can look forward to a bright future for the specialty coffee industry.”

The focus of the event is on specialty coffee. Around 350 companies and 70,000 participants are expected to participate over the four days of the event.

“Like every year, we want to make this a meaningful four-day event where we deliver the latest news and information about the specialty coffee industry, showcase the greatness and diversity of specialty coffee, and offer new opportunities,” says Hasegawa.

Founded in 2003, the SCAJ aims to increase awareness of specialty coffee in the Japanese coffee market. As part of its commitment to promoting the industry, the association offers educational activities, skills certifications and research, and holds national coffee championships and exhibitions every year.
