Turkish-Iraqi security meeting takes place in Ankara

Ankara will host the fourth meeting of the high-level security mechanism between Turkey and Iraq on August 15.

The aim of the conference is to strengthen the institutional and sustainable cooperation framework between the two neighboring countries.

High-level talks in Ankara

The meeting will be chaired by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

Both ministers will be accompanied by their respective delegations and will hold talks focusing on intensifying bilateral security cooperation.

According to diplomatic sources, the main objective of this meeting is to build a more structured and lasting partnership between Turkey and Iraq.

The talks are expected to cover various aspects of security cooperation, with a focus on creating a robust framework for future cooperation.

Dissolution of PKK-affiliated parties

Recently, Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council ordered the dissolution of several political parties and groups with links to the PKK terrorist organization, which is banned in Iraq.

The Iraqi government has begun taking serious measures against the PKK/YPG in the country, demonstrating its commitment to national security and political stability.

With this step, the government also expressed its full confidence in the Turkey-Iraq road construction project being implemented jointly with regional partners.
